giving our new server a workout

sometimes - out of the blue - a web server will suddenly become incredibly busy compared to its normal state. Last week Guy Kewney - one of our clients - had a little episode at BBC News 24, and the story has been gradually spreading across the internet.

I would think the traffic to that server has probably quadrupled today - we've been watching the logs and monitors with horrified fascination, as referrers come in from Der Spiegel, and message boards, and Finnish sites, and lord knows where else.

and even when we hit the record (so far) of 111 Apache processes, Top still said:

Mem: 4092140k total, 3787264k used, 304876k free, 138708k buffers
Swap: 1951800k total, 0k used,

well done, tzut.ramtops.org - we're proud of you!

Accessility

some clients - although far too few - ask us if we include accessibility in our sites. Yes, we do. Of course we do - we like to think of ourselves as professionals.

but there are hordes of web development compnies who not only don't include it, but don't know how to.

This article by Andy Higgs is an excellent read on just why accessibility is important.

oh - and we don't use tables either!
